Jesus Clears Up the Confusion between Status vs. State
Description
Because of Christ, we have a holy status before God. Sometimes, though, the situation we find ourselves in makes us wonder how we stand before God. Jesus clears up that confusion for now and enternally.

Pastor Wayne Shevey, who seres at Wisconsin Lutheran College, was our guest preacher.
Description
We say that something "has your name all over it" when that object is supposedly destined to be yours. In the same way, we are assured that just as Jesus called out Lazarus' name and he was raised from the dead, so he will put our names on our own personal resurrections.
Description
You know them as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. But when they were born, they had different names -- names which helped them stay steadfast in the face of persecution. In the same way, your name -- Christian -- enables you to stay steadfast.
Description
When we're stunned by others' cluelessness, we wonder out loud, "What are we doing here?" When we look at who we are as sinners, we wonder out loud, "What are we doing here?" The answer is found in Jesus, the Son of Man, who did not come to be served but to serve.

Jesus' Financial Teaching Leads to Heavenly Treasure

You can get financial advice from a lot of people. But only Jesus gives divine financial teaching. What's more, he gives his teaching without a fee and his teaching leads to free heavenly treasure!
Description
Even as Saint Paul gives many commands about marriage and the family, he doubles down on something else -- the love that Christ gives the church through his death and through baptism. That's what perfects families and keeps them united.
Description
As we celebrate the Festival of St. Michael and All Angels, we see that believers are on a completely different trajectory than Satan -- first, because of the angels and also, most importantly, because of the Lamb.
Description
Prayer should not be some last ditch effort when we feel our weakest. Rather, it should be rooted in the strength we know we always have in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastors have a special privilege in the way they are called to proclaim the good news about Jesus. But all Christians are called to speak God's word to others -- and to do so fearlessly. To do that, we need to make sure we're keeping the right people in mind.

God wants you to be at rest in your soul, and Saint Paul teaches you how to get that rest. It's not found by chasing after shadows of religion that others think you must follow; it's found in Jesus Christ who was crucified for you.
The Teaching of the Trinity Is for Crying Out Loud
Description
The doctrine of the Trinity teaches that God is three persons -- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- and yet remains one, undivided divine being. How does that work?! Well, logic cannot explain it. So, if we cannot fully explain the doctrine of the Trinity, what are we believers supposed to do with this teaching? St. Paul encourages us Christians to use it to influence the way we cry out in faith.
God Doesn't Want His Wonders to Be Foreign to Anyone

One of the things most associated with Pentecost is the way that the disciples spoke in foreign langauges they had never before studied. Why did this happen? Because God wants everyone to be familiar with -- and have faith in -- the wonders Jesus Christ has done for us and for our salvation.
