Today’s Prayer

Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.—Joshua 24:14 (NIV)

Dear heavenly Father, surely I would not worship the gods of our ancestors. That was so long ago, I can’t even think of their names.  But, you still use your Bible to speak to me.  “Throw away your gods,” you say.  Lord, do I have gods I worship today?  Do I have time-robbers, things that take my eyes off you?  Are you speaking to me and my life, Father?  Do you mean Facebook, video games, TV, obtaining and spending money, etc.?  Have these become my modern day gods that are taking my eyes off you?  Do I reach out to them first thing in the morning rather than to you?  Do I end my evenings in their presence rather than yours? Forgive me, for Jesus' sake, for the times I have served these gods instead of you. Father, I ask you to empower me through your Holy Spirit to fend off all these worldly gods and enable me to serve you and you only with all faithfulness.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Church Picnic

Come enjoy visiting with fellow church members and enjoy some great food today at the church picnic following the worship service.

Two local WELS photographers will be on site today to capture images of the building, during worship service, and of members socializing. We will use the photos in different mediums—website, newsletter, Facebook, etc. Names will not be used, but if you prefer not to have your face appear online or in public advertisements, please speak to Pastor Voss or Janeen Roska, and your privacy will be respected.  Silence will be understood as permission. In front of the cameras, conduct yourself as you normally do; don't change a thing! The goal is to capture our congregation as we are and to display the Christian community we have.

Help Needed for Trunk or Treat Festival

Would you like to help reach out to families in our area? What if you could do it by handing out candy from your car in the church parking lot? Join other Living Water family members on October 27 for Trunk or Treat. We'll welcome families from our community onto our property so that children can trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk and the whole family can enjoy other fun fall activities. But we need at least ten vehicles by mid September to get this event up and running. Sign up in the narthex today!
