Today’s Prayer

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. —James 3:13 (NIV)

Dear Father, send your Holy Spirit to us that we may be wise and understanding.  Sometimes we are slow to learn and understand (well maybe most the time), but if we would only ask for wisdom, surprising things can happen.  So, fill us with your wisdom that we may live a life pleasing to you, full of good deeds, service and humility.  Thankful for the perfect life Christ lived for us,  may we do all to your glory. Amen.

Sunday School

Sunday School is underway!  It is held after Sunday morning worship during the time that Bible Class is held.  It is open to children in grades 4K-6th grade.  Join us in the church shortly after enjoying a quick bite to eat at fellowship.

Senior Moments

Our annual Planning Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 29, at 3:00 pm. Please bring your ideas and suggestions for activities for the coming year. If you can't make it to the meeting, give your suggestions to Bob or Julie McGill.  Immediately following the planning meeting we will go to North Cape Lutheran Church for a Fish Boil. This is an all-you-can-eat meal. Advanced tickets are $10. We would like to get the tickets in advance and make reservations for our group, so please sign up on the sheet in the narthex and get the money for your tickets to Bob or Julie McGill.

Trunk or Treat Festival

Would you like to help reach out to families in our area? What if reaching out to families was as simple as serving donuts and apple cider or helping kids carve pumpkins?  Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 27 from 1:00-3:30 pm.  Many volunteers are needed to make this outreach event happen.  Sign up in the narthex to help out in a variety of ways.  Please watch for donation requests in coming weeks.

Save the Date

Mark your calendars for Fall Clean Up work day on Saturday, October 13.  More details to come.

AROUND THE WELS

Lutheran Volunteer Connect

Lutheran Volunteer Connect is an opportunity to match volunteers with churches.  By connecting the right gifts to the right organizations, we can witness God’s grace work through new avenues. Even though Vacation Bible School and canvassing don’t always seem glamorous, they bring the gospel to people, and there is nothing more important.   For more information, please visit www.lutheranvolunteerconnect.com or speak to Neil Hankwitz.

Workplace Contributions to WLCFS

Did you know you may be able to help grow the ministries of Wisconsin Lutheran Child & Family Service through your workplace? The 2018-2019 charitable workplace giving programs begin this month. Many communities and corporations have a donor choice program in which you may designate a qualified 501(c) (3) agency to receive your donation. WLCFS qualified in these programs as a 501(c)(3) non-profit social service agency. If you have questions about your participation in such a program, check your employer’s guidelines, or call Jeff at WLCFS at 888.685.9522 or e-mail info@wlcfs.org for more information.
