Today’s Prayer

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. —Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)

Dear heavenly Father, through the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ, your light has now come into the dark world.  And this light is for all mankind to seek and follow, shining and resting upon all who believe in your truths.  Shine this light brightly upon all your faithful people!  Shine it so bright that unbelievers may see it and come to seek you also. Be with us, Holy Spirit, that we may shine this glory of the Lord through the New Year.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Foundations of the Christian Faith

Foundations of the Christian Faith is a 12-session course designed to present the core message and teachings of the Bible. If you've got questions about the Bible you've always wanted to ask or if you think you know the Bible pretty well, but just want to learn more, then this Bible study is for you! Consider inviting a friend, coworker, or neighbor who has doubts or objections to the Bible and go through the course with them. Sessions will run from 6:15-7:30 pm on Tuesdays from January 15 through April 2. Sign up in the narthex or online www.livingwaterlutheran.com/BibleStudy

Pastor Voss to Be on Vacation

Pastor Voss will be out of town on vacation January 8-14. His communication will be limited to intermittent email access, so if you need pastoral care during that time, you are encouraged to contact Pastor John Bortulin (262-232-2202) or Pastor Micah Martin (262-975-0827) from our sister congregation, St. John's in Mukwonago.

Take the Sermon Home

The New Year brings a new opportunity to study God’s Word at home! Each week Pastor Voss will work up a few study questions that will help you dig deeper into the sermon text and possibly make connections to that Sunday’s other Scripture readings. You can access them on our website under “Learn and Grow.” Before you head out the door in the morning, after dinner, or before bedtime, pull up the questions on your phone, tablet, or computer and work through them during the week. “Answers” will be provided to help frame the conversations you have at home. These study questions and the sermon recording will be usually available on the website on Tuesdays. God bless your study of his Word!

Scrip Order

You can raise funds for our Tuition Assistance Fund through your regular shopping—gas, groceries, and more.   Scrip is a program where you buy gift cards, and a percentage of the gift cards is donated to Living Water.  Those funds are added to our Tuition Assistance Fund. Order forms are available in the narthex.  Orders are due Sunday, January 6.

Senior Moments

Our annual "Game Day" will be on Saturday, January 12 at 3:00 pm.  We will be having a Farkel Party! Farkel is an easy to play dice game. It's easy to learn and everyone should enjoy playing. It will be potluck snacks, so start thinking about what you might like to bring. Game Day is always a good time, so plan now to attend. Gary and Renee Steffens will be our hosts for the day.

Christmas Decorations

We will be taking down the Christmas decorations today, Sunday, January 6 following worship.  Many hands make light work!

WinGS Meeting

WinGS will be having their next meeting on Sunday, January 13 after Bible Class.   Topics of discussion include the upcoming Pinterest night on January 24.  All ladies of the congregation are invited to attend.

Tomorrow’s Choice Family Resource Center

On January 20, 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision made abortion legal. On January 20, 2019, we will be having a freewill door offering to support Tomorrow's Choice Resource Center -- a local, gospel-centered, and WELS-based organization which serves and counsels women facing an unplanned pregnancy, struggling with the after effects of an abortion, and concerned about abstinence; it also supports families with diapers and other earthly needs. Currently, the organization is facing a financial shortfall of $10,000. Tomorrow's Choice is based in Waukesha and is affiliated with Christian Life Resources.

Help Needed

An additional usher is needed to fill a spot on one of the teams.  Ushers generally serve once every four weeks and more often during Advent and Lent.  Usher duties include greeting worshipers and handing out bulletins, helping to collect the offering and ushering people forward for communion.  To volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.

An additional volunteer or two to help run the display during worship are also needed.  You would serve about once a month based on your availability.  You simply need to pay close attention to the service and click forward when needed.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.
