Today’s Prayer
Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. He says, 'I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises. —Hebrews 2:11,12 (NIV)
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, who, by becoming one of us, showed us the way in which we can become one with Him. By our belief that Jesus is our Savior, we become His brothers and sisters. Send your Spirit to show us how to live as Christian brothers and sisters in fellowship with Christ, our brother. May we never be ashamed to call Jesus our brother. Give us joy in this fellowship that we may sing your praises continually. Amen.
Our Guest Preacher
Pastor David Kuehl brings us the gospel today as our guest preacher. Pastor Kuehl is one of the pastors at our sister congregation, St. Paul's in Muskego. He also serves as the circuit pastor for Living Water and the rest of the Wisconsin Synod congregations in the Southern Circuit of the Western Lakes Conference. We thank Pastor Kuehl for sharing God's good news with us today!
Pastor Voss on Vacation
Pastor Voss will be out of town on vacation through tomorrow, January 14. His communication will be limited to intermittent email access, so if you need pastoral care during that time, you are encouraged to contact Pastor John Bortulin (262-232-2202) or Pastor Micah Martin (262-975-0827) from our sister congregation, St. John's in Mukwonago.
Take the Sermon Home
The New Year brings a new opportunity to study God’s Word at home! Each week Pastor Voss will work up a few study questions that will help you dig deeper into the sermon text and possibly make connections to that Sunday’s other Scripture readings. You can access them on our website under “Learn and Grow.” Before you head out the door in the morning, after dinner, or before bedtime, pull up the questions on your phone, tablet, or computer and work through them during the week. “Answers” will be provided to help frame the conversations you have at home. These study questions and the sermon recording will be usually available on the website on Tuesdays. God bless your study of his Word!
WinGS Meeting
WinGS will be having their next meeting on Sunday, January 13 after Bible Class. Topics of discussion include the upcoming Pinterest night on January 24. All ladies of the congregation are invited to attend.
Tomorrow’s Choice Family Resource Center
On January 20, 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision made abortion legal. On January 20, 2019, we will be having a freewill door offering to support Tomorrow's Choice Resource Center -- a local, gospel-centered, and WELS-based organization which serves and counsels women facing an unplanned pregnancy, struggling with the after effects of an abortion, and concerned about abstinence; it also supports families with diapers and other earthly needs. Currently, the organization is facing a financial shortfall of $10,000. Tomorrow's Choice is based in Waukesha and is affiliated with Christian Life Resources.
Senior Moments
will be taking a tour of the SC Johnson campus in Racine on Thursday, February 14th. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. and will last about 90 minutes. There is no charge for the tour. We will go out for lunch following the tour, so if you have any restaurant suggestions, let us know. Thank you to Ken and Sue Gawrisch for planning this activity. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the narthex. Sign up today! Doesn't this sound like a great way to spend Valentine's Day?
Help Needed
An additional usher is needed to fill a spot on one of the teams. Ushers generally serve once every four weeks and more often during Advent and Lent. Usher duties include greeting worshipers and handing out bulletins, helping to collect the offering and ushering people forward for communion. To volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.
An additional volunteer or two to help run the display during worship are also needed. You would serve about once a month based on your availability. You simply need to pay close attention to the service and click forward when needed. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.
February Newsletter
Please submit items for the February newsletter by next Sunday, January 20.
