Today’s Prayer

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. —Ephesians 3:17b-19 (NIV)

Dear heavenly Father, you desire to fill me to the measure of the fullness of God?  The fullness of God seems beyond my comprehension since you are the Alpha and Omega; before anything was made, you were. I am a mere human with limited brain capabilities, so how can anyone think of measuring the fullness of God? How do I measure how wide and high and deep the love of Christ is for me?  Is there even a measure for divine love?  And I need to be rooted and established in your love so I can have power to grasp all this?   Please make the roots of my faith deep enough so that I don’t become uprooted when the storms hit.  Allow me to know and feel your love in Christ Jesus which surpasses human knowledge, so that I may live and share this love with others.  Please fill me with a measure suitable for me, so that I may know you more today than I did yesterday -- that I may know you to the fullest. In the name of my Savior, Jesus, I pray. Amen.

 

Tomorrow’s Choice Family Resource Center

On January 20, 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision made abortion legal. Today, on January 20, 2019, we will be having a freewill door offering to support Tomorrow's Choice Resource Center—a local, gospel-centered, and WELS-based organization which serves and counsels women facing an unplanned pregnancy, struggling with the after effects of an abortion, and concerned about abstinence; it also supports families with diapers and other earthly needs. Currently, the organization is facing a financial shortfall of $10,000. Tomorrow's Choice is based in Waukesha and is affiliated with Christian Life Resources.

 

Take the Sermon Home

The New Year brings a new opportunity to study God’s Word at home! Each week Pastor Voss will work up a few study questions that will help you dig deeper into the sermon text and possibly make connections to that Sunday’s other Scripture readings. You can access them on our website under “Learn and Grow.” Before you head out the door in the morning, after dinner, or before bedtime, pull up the questions on your phone, tablet, or computer and work through them during the week. “Answers” will be provided to help frame the conversations you have at home. These study questions and the sermon recording will be usually available on the website on Tuesdays. God bless your study of his Word!

 

Pinterest Craft Night

WinGS is hosting a Pinterest craft night this week Thursday, beginning at 6:30 pm.  We will be making two projects—busy bags for children during worship and a wooden plaque with your last initial and other decorations.  Please bring $10 to cover the cost of the supplies.  Snacks and beverages are welcome.  If you need an initial, please contact Lori Moldenhauer.

 

Senior Moments 

will be taking a tour of the SC Johnson campus in Racine on Thursday, February 14. The tour will begin at 10 am and will last about 90 minutes.  There is no charge for the tour. We will go out for lunch following the tour, so if you have any restaurant suggestions, let us know. Thank you to Ken and Sue Gawrisch for planning this activity. Help Needed

An additional usher is needed to fill a spot on one of the teams.  Ushers generally serve once every four weeks and more often during Advent and Lent.  Usher duties include greeting worshipers and handing out bulletins, helping to collect the offering and ushering people forward for communion.  To volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.

An additional volunteer or two to help run the display during worship are also needed.  You would serve about once a month based on your availability.  You simply need to pay close attention to the service and click forward when needed.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Janeen Roska in the office.
