Today’s Prayer
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” —Psalm 91:14-16 (NIV)
Father, I love you because you loved me first. Thank you for rescuing me from sin, and for protecting me from the evil one, including the way you send your angels to deliver me. Let thanks and praise to you continually flow from my heart. When in trouble, Father, I only need to call upon you and you will strengthen me, lead me, and calm me. Thank you for the life you have blessed me with, and for the assurance that my salvation is sure through the life, death and resurrection of you Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray for myself and all others. Amen.

Seat Yourself
When sitting down for worship, we kindly encourage you to keep in mind three groups of people: visitors, families with young children, and fellow members. When we sit towards the middle of the pews and leave spaces at the ends, we make it easier for first-time visitors to quickly find a spot. When we leave the rear pews open on both sides for families with young children, we make it easier for those families to quickly access the nursery room when they want. When we make our pre-service conversations friendly but also at a respectable noise level, we make it easier for our brothers and sisters in Christ to pray and prepare for worship. As we keep in mind our visitors, our families, and all our worshipers, we not only create a friendly worship environment but also honor our God. May he bless our worship today!
WinGS
Women in God’s Service will have a “Fast 15” meeting, next Sunday, October 6 during fellowship. Topics include voting for a vice-president, a review of finances, and a look at the calendar of upcoming events. All ladies are invited! WinGS is also hosting a free cooking demonstration at church on Thursday, October 10 at 6:00 pm. Food will be prepared by a plant based chef and food for life instructor. Come hungry, we will be eating the delicious food being prepared! There will also be a Kohl's sponsored event called "Conversations with Komen." Feel free to bring any guests that you would like! If you plan to attend please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the narthex so that we have an estimate for ordering the food.
Handbell Choir
The handbell season has begun, and there is still plenty of room for new ringers—high school age and older. If you can count to 4 and know your right hand from your left, we'd love to have you give it a try! We play once a month for worship on Sunday mornings. Questions can be directed to Tracy Hankwitz.
Adult Choir
After many years, Neil Hankwitz has stepped down from directing Adult Choir. We thank him for his many years of faithful service! Rehearsals for this year will begin this week, October 2. We will practice on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 pm. If you enjoy singing and Christian fellowship and can carry a tune, please consider joining Adult Choir. If you have questions, please contact Janeen Roska.
Open Forum & Voters’ Meeting
The church council has completed a Bible Study that was geared to developing a new mission statement. There will be a special Open Forum/Voters’ Meeting on October 13 to review portions of the Bible Study as well as to present and to adopt a new Mission Statement. The mission statement is the first step in developing the future ministry plan.
Senior Moments
will be going to the Burlington Malt House Haylofters Theater on Sunday, October 13 to see a production of Nevermore - The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe. We'll go to lunch following Bible class and then go to the theater for the 2:00 pm show. Sign up today! We'll need to know how many tickets to purchase by October 6. Any questions, talk to Diane Kordus or Julie McGill.
Trunk or Treat October 26
Mark your calendars on October 26, 1:00-3:30 pm. for our annual Trunk or Treat event. At trunk or Treat children of our congregation and community can trick-or-treat out of members' decorated trunks. It's part of our outreach efforts but is also good fellowship for our members! Sign-up sheet for volunteers is in the narthex. Candy can be dropped off in the large bin. A sign-up for other donations will be coming.
