Today’s Prayer
[Jesus answered,] "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." —Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
Dear heavenly Father, we do not know when Jesus will return to call home those who are marked as your children, but, through your Word, we are certain he will return. Send us your Holy Spirit to assist us in living a God-fearing life that we may be prepared for that day of Jesus’ returning. May we always be ready for his coming, and show us how to assist others that they may be ready also. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanksgiving
Thank and praise God for his many blessings. Thanksgiving Worship will be held on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:30 pm. A pie social will be held following the service. Enjoy a slice of pie while visiting with fellow church members. Please consider baking (or purchasing) an extra pie to share that evening. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.
Advent Worship
When the time comes to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, you know what to expect and do. But do you know what to expect and what to do when it comes to celebrate the spiritual reason for Christmas? Midweek worship services will use Galatians 4:4-5 to help prepare us to celebrate when the time comes for Jesus to come, both in Bethlehem and on the Last Day. Midweek services will be held on Wednesdays, December 4, 11, and 18 at 6:30 pm. There will be a free, fellowship dinner each of these Wednesdays beginning at 5:30 pm.
Fall Yard Cleanup
As in past years we are looking for people to assist some of our members with their fall clean-up. Weather permitting, we will do this on Saturday, November 16. We will meet at church at 9:00 am and leave from there. If you have a leaf rake or blower, consider bringing that along as we have a limited number of tools available. This is a great opportunity for our members to serve their Lord, help out some of our members in need, and enjoy some fellowship. Teenagers, does your school require any community service work as part of their curriculum? This would count toward that. Even if it isn't required, we'd be glad to see you there.
Fellowship Hosting
Members of Living Water enjoy Fellowship on Sundays after worship. More than just enjoying coffee and snacks, it is an opportunity to build relationships with each other. Fellowship hosts help this time run smoothly. Detailed instructions on what hosting includes are in the narthex and are posted in the kitchen. Please consider signing up to serve in this way.
Camp Phillip Door Offering
There will be a door offering to support the ministry at Camp Phillip on Sunday, November 24. Camp Phillip provides “Renewal in Christ and Relaxation in Creation” through school field trips, summer camp programs, and weekend retreats. Several children from our congregation attended a week of summer camp this past summer. For more information on their ministry, visit www.campphillip.com.
Senior Moments Church Tour
Senior Moments will tour First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine on Thursday, December 12. First Lutheran’s building was dedicated in 1897. We will meet at Living Water at 9:00 am to carpool and Pastor Pope’s tour will begin at 10:00 am. We’ll enjoy a noon lunch at Well Brothers Restaurant. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.
Christmas for Kids
Our Christmas for Kids event will happen on December 14. This is a chance for kids prekindergarten - 6th grade to have free fun and, more importantly, to hear how and why Jesus was born to take away our sins. For parents, Christmas for Kids can be free babysitting, freeing you up to do some errands or have a quiet cup of coffee somewhere. Watch for more details to come about this event. Contact Dan Hanke with questions.
Opportunities to Give
Over the past holiday seasons, Living Water has participated in various free-will opportunities to give to those outside our congregation. Similar chances will be made available again this year. Keep an eye on opportunities in the coming month, if you are moved to give. Gifts from Friends of Jesus is a charitable toy drive coordinated by a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Big Bend. Donated toys go to families in inner city Milwaukee, such as at Christ and St. Peter Lutheran Churches. More information and a collection bin are in the narthex. The bin will be collected on December 8.
