Today’s Prayer

So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. —Matthew 24:44 (NIV)

Dear heavenly Father, fill me with the Holy Spirit so that the words I speak will be kind and true, that my actions will always show Christian love, and that my thoughts may continually be centered on you.  Yes, Holy Spirit, fill me and keep me close so I will be prepared for the coming of Jesus Christ. Come, Lord Jesus, Come.  Amen.

Decorating for Advent & Christmas

We will be decorating the church for Advent and Christmas today following Bible class.   Anyone who would like to help is welcome!

Advent Worship

When the time comes to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, you know what to expect and do.  But do you know what to expect and what to do when it comes to celebrate the spiritual reason for Christmas?  Midweek worship services will use Galatians 4:4-5 to help prepare us.  Midweek services begin this week, December 4, and continue on December 11 and 18 at 6:30 pm.  There will be a free, fellowship dinner each of these Wednesdays beginning at 5:30 pm.  Senior Moments will host a potluck on December 4.  Elders will provide a variety of chili on December 11.  Church Council will host tacos on December 18.  Sign-up sheets are in the narthex.

Advent Devotions

An Advent devotion book is available in the narthex.  The devotions, one for each day December 1-25, focus on the four candles in the Advent wreath.  These devotion books are a gift from Martin Luther College.

Christmas Parade

We will participate in the Waterford Christmas parade this Saturday, December 7.  We are looking for volunteers to walk in the parade and hand out invitations.  We are also looking to borrow two wagons.  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.  The parade begins at 5:30 pm.  Final details of meeting time and location will be emailed to participants during the week. Please contact Dan Hanke with questions.

WinGS Meeting

Women in  God’s Service will have their next “Fast 15” minute meeting next Sunday, December 8 during Fellowship time after worship.  All ladies of the congregation are invited to come.

Advent by Candlelight

Ladies, join us next Sunday, December 8 at 6:00 pm for Advent by Candlelight.  Enjoy beautiful Christmas decorations, delicious desserts, and an evening of meditative worship.  Table hostesses and desserts are needed.  Please RSVP on the sign-up sheets on the narthex bulletin board.

Senior Moments Church Tour

Senior Moments will tour First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine on Thursday, December 12. We will meet at Living Water at 9:00 am to carpool and the tour will begin at 10:00 am.  We’ll enjoy a noon lunch at Well Brothers Restaurant.  A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.

Christmas for Kids

Our Christmas for Kids event will happen on December 14. This is a chance for kids prekindergarten - 6th grade to have free fun and, more importantly, to hear how and why Jesus was born to take away our sins. For parents, Christmas for Kids can be free babysitting, freeing you up to do some errands or have a quiet cup of coffee somewhere. We could use a few more volunteers on that Saturday.  Some donations are also needed.  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. Contact Dan Hanke with questions.   You can register your child to attend here.  Invite family and friends with the postcard invitations that are available in the narthex.

Open Forum & Voters' Meeting

An Open Forum & Voters' Meeting will be held on December 15 after fellowship. Elections for open positions and the 2020 budget will be on the agenda.

Poinsettias

Members once again have the opportunity to purchase poinsettias to adorn the altar area for Christmas.  The cost for a poinsettia is $15.  Order envelopes are available in the narthex.  Orders are due Sunday, December 15.  Plants can be taken home after worship on Christmas.

Gifts from Friends of Jesus

is a charitable toy drive which will supply gifts to families in inner city Milwaukee, such as at Christ and St. Peter Lutheran Churches. More information and a collection bin are in the narthex. The bin will be collected on December 8.

Scrip Order

Scrip orders are due Sunday, December 1.

Baby Shower Save the Date

The women of Living Water would like to host a baby shower luncheon for Jenilee and Baby Girl Voss on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1pm in the Fellowship Hall.  They are registered at Target, Amazon, and lovevery.com.  Any questions please call or message Tami Pautz.
